Apple has bought the American start-up Mira. The company is best known for supplying the headsets for the Mario Kart roller coaster in Nintendo World. Mira also supplies the American army.

Apple and Mira both confirm the acquisition opposite The Verge. It is unknown what exactly Apple wants with the company. Apple announced its Vision Pro headset on Monday and has been developing augmented reality for years. Mira focuses mainly on heads-up displays for displaying digital elements in a real image.

Apple often makes acquisitions of smaller companies, often to retain technology and people. Over the past decade, the tech giant has acquired many more AR companies, leading up to ARKit for iOS and the Vision Pro headset. It is unknown what Apple paid for Mira. At least eleven people from the start-up will work for Apple.
