AMD acquires French AI start-up Mipsology
AMD has acquired French AI software company Mipsology for an undisclosed amount. Mipsology must create AI-based software applications for AMD.
AMD has acquired the company and made it part of the AI Group, founded in May this year. According to Phoronix it is not often that AMD acquires a software company; Typically, a corporate acquisition revolves around hardware. By the way, AMD and Mipsology worked in their own words been together for a while.
The French company makes Zebra AI, a tool to optimize inference from a neural network. Inference describes the ‘reasoning’ and processing of information within artificial intelligence. It is not yet clear how AMD plans to use this technology for its own products.
