Amazon Adds Lighting to Entry-Level Kindle

Amazon has announced a new Kindle. It is the entry-level model with a 6 “screen to which the company has added lighting, similar to the Paperwhite. The price of the new model is eighty euros.

Amazon offers the new Kindle in white and black. The e-reader has a 6″ screen with a pixel density of 167ppi. It has 4GB of storage. The entry-level Kindle still has a lower pixel density and less storage than the Kindle Paperwhite, but the lighting is also different. The Paperwhite has five LEDs around the screen versus four for the new Kindle.

According to Amazon, the contrast of the electronic paper has also been improved over the old entry-level Kindle. In its overview, Amazon no longer mentions the previous-generation Kindle, without lighting. It appears that it is being phased out. The old e-reader is still available at Amazon Germany for sixty euros instead of the original price of seventy euros. At eighty euros, the new entry-level Kindle is in any case slightly more expensive than its predecessor.
