Scythe has released the third version of its Big Shuriken processor cooler. The relatively low cooler is intended for compact systems and has an asymmetrical design to leave space for memory modules.

The cooling block of the Big Shuriken 3 has dimensions of 122x122mm and is 69mm high. Scythe supplies a 15mm high 120mm fan from its Kaze Flex series. Users can optionally install a 25mm one for better cooling performance. The cooler has five 6mm heat pipes and the included PWM fan spins between 300 and 1800 rounds per minute.

The Big Shuriken 3 weighs 475 grams including fan. The cooling block of the new model is much larger than that of its predecessor. The cooling fins now continue down to the heat pipes. The previous versions were a bit lower at 58mm.

Scythe supplies the cooler with a new mounting system that is suitable for almost all modern sockets from Intel and AMD. Several online stores offer the Scythe Big Shuriken 3 for about forty euros.
