Alibaba will release a payment method for virtual reality at the end of this year. With VR Pay, users can purchase things without having to take off the VR glasses. Confirmation is done by nodding the head, says the Chinese company.

Nodding is enough for confirmation, but to authorize the payment, users will have to enter a password, Reuters news agency reported after a demonstration. This is done by looking at it for a long time for each character of a password via the VR glasses. This can also be done via a controller or other method of input, the company says.

In addition to nodding its head, Alibaba is also working on authentication through voice recognition. Anyone wishing to make a payment will see a 3D Alipay avatar pop up to complete the transaction. Alipay is Alibaba’s popular payment system in China, best known in the west for its web store.

VR Pay should be available by the end of this year and is aimed at the Chinese market, where Alibaba has many customers with Alipay. It is unknown on which VR platforms the payment system will work.
