Amazon has added a new setting to Alexa that allows users to choose not to have conversations listened to by Amazon employees. Calls may occasionally be recorded and listened to to improve service.

The new setting that allows users to unsubscribe from listening to conversations by employees is in the Alexa app for smartphones. This was noted by Bloomberg news agency after a new version of the app was released on Friday. Incidentally, the setting can also be adjusted on the web version.

By applying the new setting, voice commands can no longer be heard by Amazon employees. In some cases, this is done so that human listeners can check whether the service is functioning properly and suggest improvements if necessary. Amazon emphasizes that only a very small portion of Alexa conversations are analyzed.

Recently there has been a fuss about people listening to voice commands. This happened not only at Amazon, but also at competitors Google and Apple. The latter have now indicated that they will stop allowing people to listen to voice commands.
