Acer says it is committed to sustainability and shows the Aspire Vero laptop in that context. It is made in part from recycled plastic and is said to be easy to upgrade and repair. It is not yet known when the laptop will be released and what it will cost.

The Aspire Vero laptop’s keys are 50 percent PCR plastic, while the laptop’s top and bottom, screen bezels, and ‘control surface’ are 30 percent recycled material.

Acer will ship the Vero in a box made from 80 to 85 percent recycled paper pulp, and instead of plastic bags for accessories, the manufacturer will use paper sleeves. The laptop is unpainted and standard screws are used, making disassembly easy.

According to Acer, the laptop is therefore easy to repair and upgrade, but nothing is known about the interior of the Vero. For example, it is not clear whether the memory on the motherboard is isolated or can be replaced.

Acer says it will equip the Aspire Vero with Intel Tiger Lake processors, up to 1TB of NVMe storage, WiFi 6 and a USB-C port. When the laptop will be released and at what price has not yet been announced.

The Acer group joins the RE100 initiative. This is an alliance of companies that pledge to switch completely to renewable energy. Apple, Google and Microsoft, among others, are already affiliated with this. Acer wants to use 100 percent renewable energy by 2035. In 2020, that was 44 percent, according to the company.
