Microsoft is releasing Halo: The Master Chief Collection for PC. This collection includes Halo: Reach, Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary, Halo 2: Anniversary, Halo 3, the Halo 3: ODST campaign, and Halo 4. Dates for the phased chronological release have not yet been announced.

The different titles come out in chronological order and not all at once. That means Halo: Reach is the first to act. The collection already has a page on Steam and will also be available through the Microsoft Store, where the various titles can also be purchased separately. There are a total of 67 campaign missions and 120 multiplayer maps.

Microsoft says it’s chosen this phased, chronological release to give 343 Industries’ development teams the opportunity and time to make sure each title has been properly converted for PC. In addition, Microsoft states that this way players get the chance to play certain content right away, instead of having to wait for the entire collection.

Halo: Reach’s multiplayer portions, including Forge and Theater, will be added automatically for Xbox One players who purchase the collection. That doesn’t apply to the campaign and Firefight; the latter two Halo: Reach elements are offered as a digital add-on that requires a separate payment. Xbox Game Pass owners get access to all parts of Halo: Reach.

The Halo: The Master Chief Collection will receive support for 4k resolution, HDR, ultrawide monitors and adjustable frame rates on PC. There will also be sliders for adjusting the field of view. In addition, there is support for mouse and keyboard.

It is not yet clear when the various parts of the collection will be released, but it is known that Halo: Reach will be released first and that will happen ‘later this year’.
