Fujifilm introduces new Instax camera that shoots vintage videos

You mainly know Instax for the small photos that do well at parties, but Fujifilm makes more Instax products. The new camera is the Instax Mini Evo Cinema and it is not for photography, but for videography. He has a kind of retro cinema look and makes vintage images.

Instax Mini Evo Cinema

Just like Instax, the camera is really made for a social media audience. It makes 15 second clips and you can also post stills as if they were small movie posters. The camcorder-like device also has an original Instax camera inside. You can use a dial to select the style you want the photo in per era, so 1940, 1970, and so on. You can go from 1930 to 2020. It’s very cool, because you also see that Fujifilm really looked at what the state of photography and film was at that time. Some are a kind of black and white, some are extremely blurry and the 2010s are a kind of woolly livestream image. So it is a kind of hybrid between the well-known Instax and a video camera, a kind of camcorder. So you can create all kinds of content that can also be sent to your movie. The camera resembles a Fujica Single-8 8mm camera that Fujifilm introduced in 1965. Although the camera won’t debut in Japan until January 30, you can pre-order it for 379 euros. So it is not very cheap, but especially if you want to make more videos, it is better than the regular Instax that costs 80 euros.

Camera and microprinter

In our opinion, the biggest plus is the option to use this camera as a micro printer. So if you have photos on your phone that you want a physical version of, you can achieve that in an instant with this camera. It is also great that the sound of the film is also included in whatever year you choose. If you make a video from the 1960s, you will hear a completely different sound – namely from the camera – than, for example, in a different era. So a lot of detail has gone into this camera and we partly owe this to the long history of Fujifilm. It was really there at the time and therefore knows what that era was like in terms of photography technology. And you can see that literally and figuratively with this Instax Mini Evo Cinema.
