Instagram sets a maximum on the number of hashtags for your post
Hashtags on Instagram
Hashtags are a helpful way to ensure that others find your mail. However, it also encourages you to add a complete hashtag waterfall to your post to get as many eyes on your content as possible. Meta is fed up. It wants a cleaner experience on Instagram and, therefore, limits the number of hashtags you can use in your post. It is a rigorous choice by Instagram, as it comes with a new rule that limits you to five hashtags per post. Five pieces! That’s a big deal for many people who like to make Instagram posts, because it’s become pretty standard to add at least 10 hashtags. Instagram boss Adam Mosseri says, “I know it’s tempting to use more hashtags, but a few specific hashtags perform better than a long list of generic hashtags. Quality over quantity.” He indicates that more hashtags are suitable for search, but that they do not increase your reach. “You need to focus on seeing what content appeals to your own audience.”
Threads
Threads users are also not allowed to use so many hashtags: on that social medium, there is only one tag per post. Mosseri wants to see less’ engagement hacking’ and more community creation. It sounds like it needs to be done a bit more in silos, with a community clearly discussing a particular topic. Basketball, for example. It is striking that Threads focuses so heavily on communities, even though this was not how it was marketed. It was marketed more as a kind of Meta-Twitter, but now the social media company seems to be changing course a bit more towards groups. Admittedly, that is also more original and makes Threads more unique in that respect than other Twitter-like platforms such as Bluesky and However, it is a bigger challenge to choose the right hashtag. You could see what is trending or, for example, enable AI. Happy hashtaggin’
