Acer will release its first 17.3 “Chromebook in June for 399 euros

Acer has introduced the first Chromebook with a 17.3 “screen. Chromebooks with that screen size did not exist yet. The Acer Chromebook 317 gets an Intel Celeron processor and a full HD screen. A touchscreen is optional.

According to the manufacturer, the Acer Chromebook 317 will get ‘the latest Intel Celeron processors’, but which is unknown. Acer also does not yet provide details about the available RAM and storage space. It is known that the laptop has WiFi 6 support and is equipped with a full HD webcam.

The 17.3 “screen has a resolution of 1920×1080 pixels and there will be versions with and without a touchscreen. The housing is equipped with two USB-A ports, a USB-C port and a Micro SD card reader. The keyboard has a numeric keypad and key illumination is optional.

Chromebooks used to have up to 15.6 “screens. ASUS is also rumored to be working on a 17.3” screen model. Acer will release the Chromebook 317 in the Benelux in June, for a suggested retail price starting at 399 euros.

Acer Chromebook Spin 713 with Intel Evo

Acer is also announcing a new version of its Chromebook Spin 713. That is a convertible with a 13.5 “screen with a 3: 2 ratio and a resolution of 2256×1504 pixels. The new model will receive up to a Core i7 processor from Intel’s Tiger Lake generation and is equipped with two USB-C ports with Thunderbolt 4.

According to Acer, the Chromebook Spin 713 is the first Chromebook to meet the requirements for Intel’s Evo platform. To receive that designation, laptops must, among other things, meet a certain battery life, wake up quickly from sleep mode and be equipped with WiFi 6. The new Spin 713 model will also be released in June and costs at least 629 euros.
