You can use various means to exchange messages with other people on the internet, such as e-mail, instant messengers and irc. The latter was designed in late 1988 to replace mut on a Finnish bbs. In the years that followed, irc grew into a means for easily exchanging messages, such as during the 1991 coup in the Soviet Union.

With the IceChat program you can easily chat via irc in channels and directly with others. Among other things, it is possible to log in to multiple servers and to use mirc and visual basic scripting. The developers recently released a new version with 7.62 as the version number and provided the following announcement:

IceChat 7.62 has been released.

This version is mainly to change the internal Updater to now point to a Web Page for updates when they are needed, as the updater in 7.61 was flawed.

This version is mainly for bug fixes, and improvements to the Server Tree.
