Asus has released a BIOS update that makes its 9 Series motherboards compatible with fifth-generation Intel processors, or Broadwell processors. According to Asus, the uefi update can be applied to the motherboards with a single click.

Intel introduced the Series 9 chipset with the introduction of Haswell Refresh, but it was already clear then that the chipset would also support Broadwell and was probably even designed for that generation. Asus now reports that the BIOS update that makes its 9 Series motherboards compatible with Broadwell is ready for users.

The update is installed using Asus’ Usb Bios Flashback or Bios Updater tools. Thanks to the Usb Bios Flashback tool, the update can be put on a USB stick and after a click on the reset button, the update installs itself, whereby according to the manufacturer, a CPU or Dram module does not even need to be present. The update works with all Series 9 motherboards from Asus, such as the Z97 Deluxe and the Sabertooth Z97. Asus has put a full list on its website.
