Xfire is aimed at avid gamers and allows them to chat in text or voice with others, both inside and outside different games. One can easily see which game the people on the contact list are playing in and then simply add themselves to that game. Xfire can also help you find a fast game server with free places, game patches and demos can be downloaded via your own p2p network and there is the option of voice chat. More than 900 games are currently supported, some of which ‘one click join’ and ‘in game chat’ support. The developers have released version 1.77 with the following list of changes:

• New Xfire In-Game interface, using the mouse, is in beta testing! It is enabled for all Dawn of War games.
• Fixed a game detection issue for some people with World of Warcraft and Warcraft III.
• Displaying friends’ screenshots in the infoview was enabled last release, but it was so popular that it caused some server problems. We expect to reenable this within days.
• Improved the profile page web interface to display screenshots.

Technical Notes for Release 1.77:

• The new Xfire In-Game interface is enabled by editing the xfire_games.ini file and putting ENABLE_MOUSE in the InGameFlags for a game. It may work in many Direct 3D 9 games; feel free to test it out and give us feedback in the forums.
