Samsung announces three Galaxy Tab S8 tablets with 120Hz displays

Samsung has announced three Galaxy Tab S8 tablets. The company releases the S8, S8+ and S8 Ultra that cost 749, 949 and 1149 euros. The tablets have screens from 11 to 14.6 “and a refresh rate of 120Hz.

Samsung announced the tablets at its own Unpacked event. It is the company’s first time to introduce an Ultra model of its high-end tablet model. The S8, S8+ and S8 Ultra have 11″, 12.4″ and 14.6″ screens. Their resolutions vary; the two smaller tablets have 2560×1600 and 2800×1752 pixels, while the Ultra has 2960×1848 pixels. The S8+ and the Ultra both have an OLED screen, but the small S8 has to make do with an LCD. All three screens have a maximum refresh rate of 120Hz.

The tablets all use an undisclosed octacore processor. Where the S8 and S8+ measure a maximum of 8 or 12GB of memory and 128 or 256GB of storage, the S8 Ultra also has an option for 16GB/512GB of memory and storage. That storage can be expanded on all models with a micro SD card. There is also a difference in the battery size. That is 8000, 10,090 and 11,200mAh for the S8, S8+ and S8 Ultra respectively. The tablets can fast charge with up to 45W with Samsung’s own Super Fast Charging 2.0 standard.

The tablets also have support for 5G, Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.2. The sound of the tablets comes from four AKG stereo speakers that support Dolby Atmos, but there is no 3.5mm port on the device. The tablets have to make do with all three with a single USB-C 3.2 port.

Samsung says the tablets will receive guaranteed support for “four generations of Android upgrades.” The tablets also receive five years of security updates. All devices come with Android 12.

The tablets come standard with an S Pen stylus. Optionally, the Book Cover Keyboards are available separately for 139 or 159 euros. The basic models of the tablets themselves cost 749, 949 and 1149 euros. That’s for the cheapest configurations. The tablets will be on sale from February 25, but will go on presale from Wednesday.
