Xiaomi releases 12T smartphone with MediaTek soc for 600 euros

Xiaomi has announced the 12T and 12T Pro. The 12T has a MediaTek Dimensity 8100 Ultra-soc. The Pro variant has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 and is a bit more expensive. Both phones will be released on October 13.

The 12T and 12T Pro only differ in specifications: the housing is the same and the screen size is also identical. Both phones have a housing of 16.3×7.6cm, with a thickness of 8.6mm. The screen is a 6.67″ OLED with a 20:9 ratio and a resolution of 2712×1220 pixels, a small upgrade over the 2400x1080px screen of the predecessors. The screen comes up to 900 candelas per square meter and has a variable refresh rate from 30Hz to 120Hz.

Besides the soc, the phones also differ in the primary camera. The 12T Pro has a 200-megapixel camera, a Samsung Isocell HM1 with a 73-square-millimeter sensor and an f/1.7 lens. The 12T has a 108-megapixel camera from Samsung, the HM6, with a sensor size of 44 square millimeters. Both cameras have optical image stabilization.

Xiaomi seems to focus only on the main camera. The ultra-wide-angle camera has an 8-megapixel sensor measuring approximately 10 square millimeters, making it smaller than many competitors. There is no camera with a telephoto lens, but there is a small macro camera of 6 square millimeters with a resolution of 2 megapixels. Both phones have a 5000mAh battery that can charge at 120W with the included adapter.

The 12T and 12T Pro will be released on October 13. The 12T gets a suggested retail price of 599 euros, the 12T Pro should cost 749 euros. The phones follow up last year’s 11T and 11T Pro.
