Xbox allows streamers to broadcast their gameplay directly to Twitch. This integration makes it easier to start a stream on an Xbox console. The feature was released to Xbox Insiders in October.

Xbox and Twitch are making the new streaming functionality available immediately on Xbox Series X/S and Xbox One. From the dashboard, a user can choose to go live and start a Twitch stream while gaming. The Twitch account you want to stream with can be linked to the Xbox by scanning a QR code with your smartphone. In October last year, the stream integration was made available to Xbox Insiders. Then there was silence for some time. Now Xbox is rolling out the ability to stream from Xbox to all users.

Streamers can add a headset and webcam to the stream in their live stream options. In addition, they can adjust the resolution and bitrate. Also, live streaming to Twitch on the Xbox Series X/S also supports the quick resume feature. This means that you can switch between games within a few seconds while playing a game. The stream will recognize this according to Xbox and will adapt the stream information on Twitch to the game you switch to.

Streaming from Xbox on Twitch was already possible in the past on the Xbox One. This integration was only removed in 2017 when Microsoft came up with its own streaming platform. This platform later merged into Mixer and was to become Microsoft’s streaming service and Twitch’s major competitor. Microsoft just failed to attract viewers, so the company decided to pull the plug on Mixer in 2020.
