Valve has shown about ten minutes of new gameplay material from Half-Life: Alyx in three videos. The videos show the different ways players can move in the VR game. The game will be released on March 23.

The three videos contain no substantive spoilers about the story. It can be seen that Alyx has a kind of ‘gravity gloves’ at her disposal, with which she can attract objects. It also appears that Valve has hired a new voice actor to voice Alyx Vance. In the new game, this is done by Ozioma Akagha, who also lent her voice to Mirror’s Edge: Catalyst.

The first video shows how the player moves through space by means of teleporting. The second video uses traditional control with a controller joystick, and the third video shows gameplay with a variant of teleporting, but does show an animation of the movement from one point to another. Players can choose from these different modes of control.

The three videos are on Valve’s YouTube channel. Game website IGN also has nine minutes of other gameplay material on its site. Valve announced Half-Life: Alyx last year. The game takes place between the events of Half-Life 1 and 2 and according to the makers will last about as long as Half-Life 2. The game can only be played with VR headsets.
