Apple has drawn up new conditions for its App Store and as a result it is now possible to get a refund up to 14 days after purchasing an iOS app. Customers do not have to give a reason for this. Competitor Google only gives a time limit of two hours.

The new terms were noticed by 9 To 5 Mac, among others. Under the new conditions, customers in European countries will have considerably longer to cancel their application purchases. Within 14 days, a purchase can be canceled without having to give a reason, after which the user will be refunded the purchase amount. Users can request a refund by pressing the ‘Report a problem’ button in iTunes.

A period of 14 days also applies to purchased iBooks in which customers can get their money back. Only purchases made with gift cards cannot be cancelled. The new conditions are likely related to EU regulations that require companies to let consumers return their online purchases free of charge up to 14 days after receipt.

Google gives competing Android only a period of 2 hours in which application purchases can be canceled. This policy has been in effect since September: before that, customers had to return their apps within 15 minutes. It is unclear whether Google will still adjust its conditions for the Play Store.
