The Japanese car manufacturer Toyota makes the previously announced bZ4X available for a recommended retail price from 48,495 euros. The bZ4X is the Japanese brand’s first fully electric car with only batteries.

Toyota says that the bZ4X can be ordered immediately and that the starting price starts at 48,495 euros. There are a total of four different equipment options; the most expensive version with four-wheel drive gets a recommended retail price of 59,495 euros. The manufacturer asks a starting price of 639 euros for private lease; that is for the duration of 60 months at 10,000 km per year.

The electric bZ4X was announced earlier and then a range of 450 km was mentioned based on the lithium-ion battery with a capacity of 71.4 kWh. Later Toyota adjusted that. The company now says an official maximum range of 516km for the front-wheel drive versions, or up to 470km for the all-wheel drive version. These figures are based on the European WLTP standard.

According to the manufacturer, the average consumption of the bZ4X is 14.3 kWh per 100 kilometers, or 7 km per kWh. For the four-wheel drive variant, that is 15 kWh per 100 km or 6.3 km per kWh. The range can be even higher by choosing optional solar panels in the roof. According to the manufacturer, that system can generate energy within a year to be able to drive 1800 km. Fast charging of the battery is possible with a maximum of 150 kW at direct current. With such a capacity, the battery could be recharged by 80 percent within half an hour. With alternating current, charging is possible with a maximum of 11 kW.

The bZ4X is the first model in Toyota’s Beyond Zero range to be built on the Toyota New Global Architecture platform. This platform is intended for battery-electric passenger cars. Toyota says this new platform means the battery in the bZ4X is integrated into the chassis, under the floor of the car. Toyota and Lexus are going to release more SUV models under the bZ name.
