Total War: Warhammer II Denuvo Security Appears to Be Cracked in Hours
Total War: Warhammer II’s security appears to have been hacked by the Steampunks group within hours of the game’s release. The game was provided with the copy protection of the Austrian company Denuvo, which seems to be cracked faster and faster.
Total War: Warhammer II appeared on Thursday, but according to Torrentfreak, a cracked version can already be downloaded that does not require Steam and can also be played offline. The group of Steampunks is said to be responsible for the heist, but how the Denuvo security was circumvented is kept secret by the group. The group previously released a key generator for generating license keys for the game Dishonored 2, another game protected by Denuvo security.
For a long time the Denuvo-drm seemed unbreakable, so many publishers started using it. In the past, the Chinese cracker group 3DM even sighed that Denuvo could herald the end of game piracy. A year ago the first cracks in security started to appear and some older games were cracked.
Since then, Resident Evil 7 and RiME, among others, fell prey to the crackers within about a week. That period now seems to be reduced to a few hours.
