This is how many times you can fold Samsung’s TriFold before it breaks
Samsung has just launched its TriFold in Korea and is awaiting its announcement for the European market. A twice-folding phone: how many times can you actually fold it? Very often. You probably won’t make it: it has been tested by a group of streamers, and guess what? Samsung promises 200,000 times, and the test shows that’s somewhat ambitious.
Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold
There is a lot of discussion surrounding the new twice-folding phones: is it still a phone, since the inner screen is 10 inches, a size we usually associate with small tablets? In any case, you can fold this tablet or phone, whatever you want to call it, very often. It took the YouTubers from OMG Electronics a week to fold this smartphone so many times that it broke down. Finally, the problems started after almost 150,000 folds. It is noticeable that the last piece no longer unfolded, as is usually the case. As a result, the YouTubers had to push the phone completely open themselves, which is not great for the hinges. No wonder it went less and less well and was actually over after 144,000. With the hinge, the screen still worked normally.
Crazy noises
It was noticeable that the phone made a strange sound when folding after only 60,000 folds, so it seems that something is not quite right. But you know you can fold it 100 times every day for five years, so that’s neat. It is less than the Galaxy Z Fold 7: it can fold 500,000 times, but it only has one hinge that can go wrong. It is essential to consider that this test was conducted in a fairly clinical environment, since a device typically comes into contact with water, dust, and other contaminants. Then things can go even faster with the hinge. You can imagine that it will deteriorate faster, a screen with two folds and a large screen, but at the same time, Samsung offers 7 years of support, so you should actually be able to use the device for that long. So maybe open your phone a little less often per day.
