LG has confirmed to work on a successor to the G Flex, a smartphone with a bendable screen. The G Flex 2 should be released in the second half of this year. There will also be a new smartphone in the Vu series, with 4:3 screen ratio.

LG made this known at a press conference after announcing the new Android flagship G3, the Korean site IT Today reported. No further details have been released about the successor to the G Flex, except that it is scheduled for release in the second half of this year. The G Flex is LG’s first smartphone where the screen can be bent.

Earlier there were already rumors about a successor to the bendable smartphone. The most striking thing about these rumors was that there was talk of bending the smartphone to a 90-degree angle, so that the housing is, as it were, at right angles. For this, LG would be working on a new type of panel that can handle such bends. The original G Flex has a 6″ screen with a resolution of 1280×720 pixels and a Snapdragon 800-soc.

At the same time, LG announced that it was working on a new smartphone in the Vu series. Number four in the series, like its predecessors, will have a 4:3 ratio. Further details have not yet been disclosed, other than that the release is slated for the second half of this year. The devices with a striking screen ratio turned out to be little popular for the time being. In September, LG announced the Vu 3, which has a 5.2″ screen with a resolution of 1280×960 pixels, with a Snapdragon 800-soc in the housing.
