HP has put a spec sheet online describing an Envy x360 15 with an AMD Ryzen Mobile processor. The Ryzen 5 2500U is a quad-core clocked at 2GHz and boosted to 3.6GHz, and is equipped with 6MB cache.

The spec sheet also states that the AMD Ryzen 5 2500U is equipped with a Vega M-gpu. Details about this are not yet known. Rumor has it that the Vega GPU in Ryzen Mobile apus will get 8 or 11 compute units. The current RX Vega56 and Vega64 video cards have 56 and 64 of these CUs respectively. It is not yet known how much and which video memory is available for the embedded GPU.

AMD hasn’t announced the details about its Ryzen Mobile processors itself yet. VideoCardz found that HP mentions the Ryzen 5 2500U in its documentation on the HP Envy x360 15-bq101na. HP previously released versions of that convertible with Intel CPUs. The new model is the same as the existing versions except for the processor.

HP specifies a battery life of 10 hours and 15 minutes for the Envy x360 15″ convertible, with a 55.8Wh battery. For the same laptop with Intel Core i7-7500U processor, HP gives a battery life of up to 11 hours and 45 minutes This seems to indicate that the Ryzen 5 2500U apu is less efficient than the Intel processor, but the Intel CPU mentioned is a dual-core and probably the GPU of the Ryzen Mobile apu is more powerful.

The tdp of the Ryzen 5 apu is not yet known, but HP is supplying the convertible with a 45W charger, so the whole system won’t consume more than that. Last year leaked a roadmap from AMD mentioning Raven Ridge APUs for laptops with a TDP between 5 and 35 watts. The apus should also be suitable for laptops of 15mm or thinner. At Computex in May, AMD showed a prototype of a thin 2-in1 laptop with a Ryzen Mobile processor, without revealing further details.

The Envy x360 with Ryzen Mobile apu contains 8GB DDR4-2400 memory and a 256GB NVME SSD. 16GB of memory can also be placed. The laptop is about 2cm thick and has a touchscreen with a resolution of 1920×1080 pixels. It is not yet known when HP will release the Envy x360 with Ryzen 5 2500U. AMD previously said that laptops with Ryzen Mobile APUs will be released in 2017.
