Sony provides Blu-ray player with PlayStation Now support

Sony has announced a Blu-ray player that has support for the PlayStation Now streaming service and to which two DualShock 4 controllers can be connected. In addition, the player supports streaming music services.

The BDP-S6700 is one of two Blu-ray drives that Sony will introduce at CES 2016 and both can upscale Blu-ray images to 4k playback. The BDP-S6700’s distinguishing feature is its support for PlayStation Now and two DualShock controllers. PlayStation Now is currently only available in the US and UK, but Sony is in beta testing in the Benelux.

The BDP-S6700 will be on the market in the spring of this year for 160 euros and also supports streaming music playback via Spotify and Deezer, among others. The other Blu-ray player that Sony introduces has to distinguish itself with support for Super Audio CD.

Sony also announced 40 new PS3 titles to PlayStation Now, including Killzone 2, God of War: Ghosts of Sparta and Lemmings. In total, more than a hundred PS3 titles are now available via the streaming service. Finally, Sony announced that more than 35.9 million PS4s have been delivered, thanks in part to the 5.7 million PlayStations that were delivered in the end of the year period of 2015.
