BillP Studios released version 12.2 of Winpatrol 2007 yesterday. In this program, ‘Scotty, the Windows watchdog’ keeps an eye on the system, which should make it work faster and more stable. It detects and stops spy, ad and malware, virus attacks, malicious Internet Explorer addons and prevents homepage hijacks. In addition, a number of other things are monitored, including the processes running on the PC, the hosts file and the file extensions. If you don’t include http:// when you type in an address, Windows automatically adds it. If a malware program includes their address in this location, you’ll always go to their site, no matter what you type in. - Properly detect registry settings which don’t meet Windows guidelines.
