With the arrival of Mac OS X “Leopard”, Apple also has the standard included mail client Mail given an update. One of the most common complaints is that Mail doesn’t have a wide view. Dane Harnett has written a plugin for the Leopard version of Mail.app that changes the layout of Mac OS X’s default email client from a horizontal to a vertical layout. In other words, the preview pane in Mail moves from bottom to right, giving it a similar look and feel to Entourage and Outlook (Express). This plugin has been given the name WidescreenMailPlugin and can be accessed by clicking this link to be downloaded as a zip file for Mac OS X.
