Download USB Drive Letter Manager 4.2.9.6 Beta
Uwe Sieber released a new beta release of USB Drive Letter Manager yesterday. USB DLM is a versatile program that manages USB devices. For example, drive letters can only be assigned when a medium is inserted, which is useful for card readers, among other things. It can also be indicated which drive letters may or may not be assigned, depending on the type of USB device, the size of the drive, which USB port is used or the name of the volume. In addition, the application indicates by means of a speech bubble in the system bar which device or volume has been added to the system with which drive letter. More information can be found in this online help file are being found. USB Drive Letter Manager is free for private and educational use, but companies and organizations are required to pay a fee. The changelog for version 4.2.9.6 beta looks like this:
Bug fix:
- [OnRemoval] works again without configuring a workdir
- [OnRemoval] is triggered on removal of a media from a card reader
- New BusTypes SD and MMC
- Virtual drives of the Vista’s “Volume Shadow Copy” will not get a drive letter assigned
New:
- [OnArrival] can start a program with full rights (“elevated”)
- Criteria UserIsAdmin is under Vista related to the “elevated” user, so it is 1 for an Admin under UAC
- When a [DeviceID] is configured then the BusType can be omitted
- [OnRemovalFailed] is executed asynchronously to avoid event ping pong when using RemoveDrive
- NoMediaNoLetter more reliable under Windows 2000
- First time arrivals under Windows 2000 optimized
- Using [OnArrival]OnRemoval etc there is the new default criterion MinVolumeSize=1, so a media must be present
- Drive letters can be checked [on resume] from standby and hibernation mode
