Cerulean Studios has released a new beta release of version 5.1 of the instant messaging program Trillian Astra. Trillian Astra allows chatting with users of many instant messaging and social networks, including Windows Live, ICQ, Skype (text only), Twitter and Facebook. Trillian Astra is available for Windows, Mac OS X, iOS, Android and BlackBerry. In addition, there is a version that runs in a web browser and can therefore be used anywhere.

In version 5.1, among other things, the Skype integration has been improved, so that it is now finally possible to make calls, where previously only text messages could be sent via Skype. Furthermore, it is now also possible to send images via all supported networks and the conversation history has been improved. In version 5.1 beta 13, the following issues have been fixed:

• [Contact List] Clear out outdated skype contacts that are incorrect

• [Social] Allow more than one account per social medium to authorize in a given session
• [Social] Don’t show url previews when creating a reply
• [TWITTER] Certain characters can trim a tweet
• [XMPP] Binding resource fails with old-style jabber:iq:auth
