Skype released a new beta release of Skype for Windows on Wednesday with version number 4.0.0.169. In version 4.0, among other things, the appearance has been thoroughly overhauled. According to the developers, a lot of thought has gone into making using Skype even easier. For example, the screen has become a lot bigger and finding new contacts and sending files should be easy. However, a ‘compact view’ has been added, so that Skype can look like before. on this page you can find more information and a video explaining the new possibilities. The only change in this release is that the installer has been changed from a standalone to a web installer, reducing the download size to just about 2.5MB:
