Download Samba 3.0.4 and 2.2.9

There are people who believe that the Samba project is one of the finest examples of open source you can find. In any case, the programmers have been successful for years in giving *n?x PCs the ability to access or even host Windows shares. To keep it that way, the project released versions 3.0.4 and 2.2.9 of the software yesterday, which will allow it to continue working with Windows shares after Microsoft’s KB828741 hot fix is applied.

Version 3.0.4 is currently the recommended version of Samba, but if you still want to work with a 2.2.x variant, you can still download number 2.2.9. Further 2.2.x versions are no longer planned. In 2.2.9 the only change is the hotfix fix, in 3.0.4 we hit something additional improvements at.

There have been several issues fixed since the 3.0.3 release, the most visible of which is the problem with user password changes after applying the Microsoft security hotfix described in KB828741 to Windows NT 4.0/200x/XP clients.
