More than half a year after the last update of phpBB 2.0 and seeing four betas of version 3.0 come along, an official final version is finally available. Brandsrus, Tsunami and EdwinG informed us that this new version of the widely used free (under GPL conditions) forum software is in our midst. phpBB uses PHP and a database program to store, store and retrieve messages. The supported database software is: MySQL, PostgreSQL, Microsoft SQL Server 2000 and Microsoft Access. On the download page phpBB 2.0.22 is available in several variants. The makers emphasize that it is important to update both the files and the database. The changelog lists six fixes and five security bugs that have been fixed, to be precise:
