Download Pale Moon 3.6.12
Earlier this week, we saw updates to several Mozilla programs due to a critical security vulnerability, and now a new version of Pale Moon has also been released. This web browser uses the source code of Mozilla Firefox, but is optimized for modern hardware. The Windows version of Mozilla Firefox is developed with the greatest possible compatibility in mind. Partly due to concessions to older hardware, the browser is not as fast as it could be, Pale Moon maker Moonchild Productions thinks.
Pale Moon is functionally almost identical to Mozilla Firefox, but does not support older processors. Some things have also been omitted, including Accessibility features and Parental controls. The result is a browser that could be up to 25 percent better to perform. More information about the program can here are being found. The program uses its own profile folder and does not share it with Firefox, making it possible to use the two side by side. In addition to the patched vulnerability, the automatic update feature has also been improved in this release.
Pale Moon 3.6.12
Despite being swamped with other things, I’m managed to squeeze in a manual patch and rebuild for Pale Moon to address a critical vulnerability in Pale Moon (due to a problem with the Firefox source).
The issue addressed is MFSA 2010-73.
The Desktop and Portable versions have both been updated.
ALSO:
The update checker built into Pale Moon should now be able to not just notify about a new version, but also download and install the update patch automatically. Please do let me know if there are issues with it, as I haven’t been able to easily test it beyond a few test runs on local copies.
