Nikon has released version 2.1.1 of its ViewNX for Mac OS X. It should be noted that the Windows release already has version number 2.1.2. ViewNX allows you to sort, view and edit the images captured with a digital camera. The corresponding list of changes looks like this:

Changes in version 2.1.1

  • The issue that prevented images scanned in NEF format using the COOLSCAN V from being displayed has been resolved.
  • ‘– –’ was displayed for XMP/IPTC data if multiple images with different XMP/IPTC data embedded were selected even though the Categories check box in the XMP/IPTC Preset pane of the Options dialog box was not checked. This issue has been resolved.
  • Support for the D5100 has been added.

Changes in version 2.1.0

  • Support for the COOLPIX P500, COOLPIX P300, COOLPIX L120, COOLPIX L24, COOLPIX L23, COOLPIX S9100, COOLPIX S6100, COOLPIX S4100, COOLPIX S3100, COOLPIX S2550, and COOLPIX S2500 has been added.
  • A function for attaching images to e-mail messages has been added.
  • The following printing functions have been added.
  • The number of rows and columns that can be specified for the Index Print option.
  • Images can be printed with borders.
  • The options 1 x 1, 3 x 2 and the same aspect ratio as the original image have been added to the Crop function.
  • Support for the following features has been added to the GeoTag window.
  • A topographic (physical) map has been added.
  • The location where movies with embedded GPS information were recorded can be displayed on the map.
  • It is possible to display only pins for selected images on the map.
  • The following features have been added for better collaboration with my Picturetown.
  • A progress bar is displayed during the upload.
  • The upload may be canceled before it is completed.
  • An option has been added that prevents the left and right palettes and filmstrip from appearing automatically.
  • Users can choose whether color matching is performed for thumbnails.
  • Sometimes the SB-600 was listed as the flash used in images shot with the SB-800. This issue has been resolved.
  • The file transfer speed of Nikon Transfer 2 has been increased, especially with movie files over a gigabyte in size.
  • The function for uploading images to my Picturetown has been removed from Nikon Transfer 2.
  • Images can be uploaded to my Picturetown with ViewNX 2.
  • The playback time of the portion of a movie left after the crop function is used is displayed in the Trim dialog box of Nikon Movie Editor.
  • An indicator has been added to the Nikon Movie Editor storyboard to indicate where transition effects cannot be added.
  • The issue that caused ViewNX 2 to quit unexpectedly when transferring images via FTP from the WT-4 to a folder opened in ViewNX 2 has been resolved.
  • An issue that caused vertical NEF images edited with Capture NX 2 to be enlarged when displayed in a slideshow has been resolved.
  • Fixed an issue where the Sort option switched to Name when the view was changed from Full Screen to another view.
  • If an image was edited in Thumbnail Grid view and then changed to Image viewer, the edits in the image were not reflected. This issue has been resolved.
