Download Mini-Pentoo 2006.1

Pentoo is a Gentoo-based Linux distribution, which features a large number of programs to discover vulnerabilities in a network and/or work environment. Mini-Pentoo is the smaller version of Pentoo, which can be found on a mini CD or a usb pendrive suits. Both distribution versions normally differ in capabilities, but at the moment the difference between the two is that Mini-Pentoo uses UnionFS as file system and enlightenment as a window manager. Also, the small Linux distribution can by installing modules be provided with extensions. Last week developer NETwork Security Consortium in the form of 2006.1 released a new version of Mini-Pentoo. The update can be downloaded as an ISO file from this server and comes with the following release notes:

The main features of this distribution:

• Nessus, Metasploit and Fingerprints db upgradable ! You can put them in RAM or on a USB stick.
• You can save stuff on a usb pen-drive or a harddisk like : /etc, /root, Nessus plugins, SecurityForest’s Exploit Tree and all fingerprints (the last only in pentoo)
• It’s modular (mpentoo), you can customize it by adding modules just like in slax (only in mpentoo for now).
• It is faster : based on the Gentoo distribution, all the code as been optimized. I chose to optimize the code for pentium3 cpu as I think that intel based cpu are more used than AMD’s ones. Of course, this will not break the compatibility with AMD proc, it will just run faster on pentium-3 or 4 CPUs.

Added wifi injection support for the following drivers : Madwifi-ng, Hostap, wlan-ng, rtl8180, prism54/GT. Integrated the portagedb so no need for the module during install. Created amplayer module. Added some firefox extensions: Live-Http-Headers, Temper-data, ShowIP, No-Referrer.

Updated: Nessus, Yersinia, bluediving, metasploit, nmap, kernel(2.6.16-r7)

Added : Kismet autoconfigure script, based on airmon-ng. The pentoo installer, based on gentoo’s one. Wifitap, tcpdump, Impacket, ipw3945 driver, Realtek RTL 8168 driver, zd1211 driver, irssi, aircrack-ng, ipsorcery, Bluetooth stack smasher, arpwatch, hexedit, slocate.[break]
