Meetro is an instant messenger that can use the ICQ, MSN, AOL and Yahoo IM protocols. The idea behind the program is not to send messages to friends, family and/or acquaintances, but by entering the place where you are currently located, other users who are nearby are located. Meetro’s main screen displays the found people, with whom you can chat by clicking the user icon. The developers recently released beta version 0.99.1361 with the following changes:

• Faster! – Meetro starts up MUCH faster now
• More in depth profiles – see friends of a friend, leave comments, and more!
• Logging support extended – now you can delete individual chat logs or the entire chat log history
• New add/remove/block icons – available in the chat window
• Support for LARGE yahoo buddy lists – this means you can now include more than 200 friends
• “They say its your birthday…” – new birthday cake icon so you can feel a little older, wiser, and popular 😉
• Quick view of links – right click someone’s picture -> “links” to see all the links mentioned in their profile.
