Software update: Maxthon 2.5.5 build 308

A new version of the web browser Maxthon was released on Tuesday. Maxthon is not a standalone browser, but a so-called wrapper that sits like a shell around Internet Explorer. The program uses IE’s internal engine to build the pages, but has its own interface with all kinds of extra functionality, including mouse gestures and online bookmarks. The changelog of this release shows the following changes and improvements:


  • Fixed a bug which causes program crash on exit
  • Improved Back/Forward support for special keyboards and mouse
  • Fixed SELECT menu cannot be selected on IE6 engine
  • Fixed Google Reader layout error after Minimize/Restore
  • Fixed UI overlap problem with Webplayer & several player controls


  • Added shortcut keys on right-click Context Menu on Address Bar
  • Fixed incorrect icons for Maxthon Browser’s Associated File Types


  • Fixed messy text problem while importing IE8 exported Favorites
