Download Getright 4.5
EraZor writes that the final of GetRight 4.5 is out. After seven beta versions, they finally dared to label the product as ‘finished’. As we are used to, the list of innovations is huge:
- Change how Netscape monitoring done…to save size, and easier to update, may make Netscape faster too(?)
- Added a variety of exceptions and special values (referer, etc.) needed by some web sites.
- Skins with big animations or progress bars could flicker too much…just an annoying visual thing.
- Some combinations of opening the Download Status, then the Browser, then closing the Download Status could get things in some ugly loops sending messages over and over so window just flickers.
- Fixed so really does handle the “Content-Disposition” header right for fixing file names.
- If no mirrors, do 2 or 3 automatic segments (depends on size and settings), instead of just 2.
- If create a new folder on the Download status that points to some directory on your hard drive that doesn’t exist…create it.
- If moving/renaming a local filename, move/rename any .TXT or .LOG files for it too.
- Use the Rich Text controls better so don’t have problems with versions of RICHTX32.OCX.
- Retry getting size with FTP using same methods downloading uses.
- If Download Status folder points to a directory that does not exist, create it.
- Add descript.ion and file_id.diz as files that view when double-clicked in Browser.
- The /CLOSE command line item did not close all sub-windows if you have a bunch open.
- Got updated banner ad DLLs.
- Add importing (and exporting) of plain .LST (.URLS) files for just a list of URLs.
- Fix so re-using the FTP connection checks to make sure the user login is the same.
- Give a better error if trying to segment a file and error because the disk will be full.
- Fix so couldn’t send blanks for FTP user logins.
- A number of exceptions and more checks for servers/sites that do things “differently”.
- Added more screen reader compatibility…ability to turn off all the nice graphics in menus, buttons, etc.
- Added .R0? .R1? .R2? to compressed files filter on Download Status. (Tho the update of existing ones isn’t perfect…since you can rename or change everything…only gets it updated if it is still the original value.)
- Improve some of the IE banner display stuff. (Don’t rotate ads unless it has been shown.)
- Try to avoid some segmenting overlap as get to the very end of the download (starting B when it is likely A will get to the bit in the file B is starting before B can get started).
- Added %DATE-x% and %DATE+x% for special values on the Daily Downloads…to move the “current” date around before the real replacements.
- Hopefully not leave around any more 0 byte .GetRight files when some downloads finish.
