Software Update: Caliber 6.0

Version 6.0 of Caliber has been released. This open source ebook manager is available for Windows, Linux and macOS. Among other things, it can look up all relevant information and cover images, and convert e-books to make them suitable for the various types of e-readers. Furthermore, the program can convert newspapers, magazines and news articles based on RSS feeds into e-book format. Books can also be purchased with Caliber from the well-known webshops.

In version 6.0, among other things, it is possible to search for a text in all books in the library, there are also versions for Arm and Apple Silicon processors and the program uses Qt 6. This means that it only works on computers equipped with a 64bit processor and at least Windows 10 or macOS 11 is required. New feature

  • For details on the major changes in caliber between 6.0 and 5.0, see this page.
  • Full text search: You can now search the entire text of all books in your caliber library
  • Support for new CPU architectures: Apple Silicon and ARM64 on Linux. Support for 32bit CPUs has been dropped because Qt 6 does not support them
  • Dark mode in caliber is now controlled via a setting in Preferences->Look & feel rather than an environment variable
  • Allow choosing different icon themes for light and dark mode in Preferences->Look & feel
  • Upgrade caliber to use Qt 6. This means that some no longer maintained third party plugins may not work, though most plugins have already been ported
