Download Avast Antivirus 6.0.1086 Beta

Alwil Software has released a new beta release of its antivirus program Avast. The program is available in the free Avast Free Antivirus version and the paid Avast Pro Antivirus. In addition, there is Avast Internet Security, which includes a firewall and anti-spam as extras. In version 6.0 we see improvements to the sandbox, there is a browser plug-in that can indicate the reputation of a website and there is SafeZone, a special virtual environment for sensitive transactions. The new version mainly aims to fix problems that have emerged since version 6.0.1000, the last stable version.

Here’s the list of the most important changes:

• Solved an incompatibility with ZoneAlarm (WinXP)
• Improved installation of the WebRep plugins (especially Firefox)
• Solved a crash condition in the avast sandbox
• Setup programs now smaller by ~20%
• Community features and the Welcome screen can now be turned on/off directly from program settings
• Solved an incompatibility with Outpost firewall
• Solved a bug related to the AutoSandbox offer (WinXP)
• Gadget can now be removed by simply closing it
• New setup icons

New in v6.0.1027:

• Attempt to fix new compatibility problems with GameGuard and sXe _rootkits_
• SafeZone improvements
• Localization updates (including WebRep)
• improved sandbox logging)
• SafeZone is now a standalone setup package (can be installed/uninstalled separately)

New in v6.0.1035:

• Solved Firefox WebRep plugin on non-English Windows
• Solved a few incompatibility problems in BehavShield (eg TeraCopy)
• Improvements in password processing
• Improvements in the program uninstaller
• Sandbox improvements
• Fixed various UI issues introduced in the previous pre-release build
