Download 7-Zip 4.53 beta

A new beta release of the open source archiving program 7-Zip has just been released with version number 4.53. This program, which recently won the SourceForge Community Choice Awards in the ‘Best Project’ and ‘Best Technical Design’ categories, can handle the compression formats zip, cab, rar, arj, lzh, chm, gzip, bzip2 , z, tar, cpio, rpm, deb and of course the self developed 7z. In addition, it is also able to open iso files and nsis installation packages. In this release, among other things, a bug that has been present since version 4.48 has been fixed and the ‘test’ and ‘info’ buttons can finally be used for archives that are already open. Changes in version 4.53 beta:

• “Test” and “Info” buttons now work for open archives.
• The bug in 7-Zip 4.48 – 4.52 beta was fixed: 7-Zip could create .ZIP archives with broken files.
• Some bugs were fixed.
