Samsung stops regular security updates for most S10 phones
The Samsung Galaxy A50, S10, S10+ and S10e no longer receive a quarterly security update. The support period for these phones has ended after four years. The devices may still receive security updates in exceptional cases.
the mentioned devices are no longer on Samsung’s security update overviewwhere she up before the weekend. Incidentally, only the enterprise model of the A50 received regular security updates. The S10 5G, S10 Lite and A50s still receive regular security updates, because these devices were released later. The A30 also no longer receives regular security updates.
In addition to stopping regular security updates for certain devices, Samsung also announces that the Galaxy Z Flip will now only receive security updates every quarter, instead of monthly. The A72 now receives a security update twice a year. This used to be every quarter.
In the past, Samsung smartphones received three years of security updates, although top models received an extra year of support in practice. At the beginning of last year, Samsung expanded this policy; since then, phones get up to four Android upgrades and five years of security updates.
