Rumor: Sony is working on a new PlayStation handheld that streams games via PS5
Sony is said to be working on a new handheld console that would fall under the PlayStation line, Insider Gaming says. That device looks like a successor to the PlayStation Portable and Vita, but should be used in combination with the PS5.
Insider Gaming states based on sources that the device has the Q Lite as a working title. This should be a PlayStation handheld that only works in combination with the PlayStation 5. This implies that the device will become an extension of the console. According to Insider Gaming, this is not a cloud gaming device. The Q Lite would work via Remote Play instead. This is different from the other Sony handhelds, the PlayStation Portable and the PS Vita, for which games had to be developed separately.
The device should therefore always work online. Streaming would be at a 1080p resolution at 60fps, the site states. According to Insider Gaming’s sources, the device resembles a DualSense controller, but has an eight-inch LCD screen in the center. The device also has the same adaptive triggers that the DualSense also has and also has a volume button, speakers and an audio port. Sony has not yet officially confirmed the existence of such a handheld console and it is not known if and when it will be released.
