Rumor: Nvidia will stop producing GeForce GTX 16 GPUs from 2024

Nvidia reportedly plans to stop production of its last GTX series from the first quarter of 2024. The last orders would be completed this month, after which no new orders will be accepted.

Sources from the Chinese Board Channels to claim that Nvidia’s board partners were recently informed of this decision, writes VideoCardz. Most video cards in this series have already been phased out, but this would mean that the last two GPUs, the GTX 1650 and 1630, will no longer be manufactured from next year.

This puts an end to Nvidia’s GTX line. After the GTX 16 series, the first cards of which were released in 2019 and the last in 2022, the focus was completely shifted to the RTX series. If support for these latest GTX cards is indeed discontinued, the RTX 3050 will become the ‘lowest’ Nvidia video card still in production. A cheaper version of that card will reportedly be launched next month, with 6GB instead of 8GB of memory. In the U.S would this one will cost between $179 and $189.
