Rumor: Leica comes with compact camera with full-frame sensor
Leica would announce a compact camera with a full-frame sensor next week, according to a Japanese site. This would make it the second compact camera on the market after the Sony RX1 with a full-frame sensor.
The Japanese site Digicame-info mentions that the announcement of the camera is due next Wednesday. The camera has a full-frame CMOS sensor with a maximum resolution of 24 megapixels, which allows users to film in up to full HD.
The lens is a 28mm ASPH lens from Leica itself. The housing is made of magnesium, while the top is made of aluminum. On the back is a touch-sensitive panel for control, while there is also a possibility to take pictures remotely with a smartphone or tablet. For this, WiFi support is present in the camera.
Many details about the camera are still missing. For example, it is unknown when the Leica Q should be released and how much it will cost. The Sony RX1, the only current compact camera with a full-frame sensor, is currently in the Pricewatch for around 2600 euros.
