Rumor: Apple is preparing to release set-top box with A12-soc
Apple would be working on an Apple TV with A12-soc. MacRumors claims that based on multiple sources. The announcement may already be made at the manufacturer’s event next week to showcase new iPhones.
MacRumors found references to a new Apple TV in the code of iOS 13. Also, several people who have previously disseminated accurate information about unannounced Apple hardware have tweeted about the upcoming device.
The next version of the Apple TV will have an A12 generation soc. That is the soc that is in the iPhone XR and Xs, for example. MacRumors emphasizes that the finds do not necessarily indicate a presentation next week, although Apple has often presented its set-top boxes in September in the past. The previous version of the TV, the Apple TV 4K, came out two years ago. The previous version appeared four years ago. If Apple continues to follow that rhythm, the next version should hit the market this fall.
