Apple has now announced a small round of layoffs, various media report. As far as we know, the company has not done this so far, while all other major tech companies have implemented major layoffs in the past six months.

The layoffs are in the division responsible for Apple Stores, reports financial news agency Bloomberg. Except Bloomberg Business Insider also heard about the layoffs. Apple does not call it a round of layoffs internally, but talks about ‘streamlining the organization’. Employees call it a round of layoffs, both media report.

It probably concerns a small number of people. It is the first time that a report about layoffs within Apple has come out. It was previously announced that Apple is cutting back on costs. Tech companies are experiencing disappointing results because consumers and companies are buying less hardware. The rumor came out on Monday that Apple did not produce the M2 Socs for several months, probably due to disappointing demand.

Apple has not made any layoffs so far and also hired fewer people during the pandemic than other major tech companies. All other major tech companies did so and Meta even twice so far.
