Rumor: Android 7 Nougat coming next month
According to rumors, the next new Android version will be released next month. It concerns Android 7 Nougat, of which Google has already released some beta versions. The new software will reportedly not be released for the Nexus 5.
That say Evan Blass, who is often the first with such information via his Twitter account. According to Blass, version 7 of Android will be released next month, although he did not give an exact date for the release. Security patches will be released at the same time as the software update. Blass also says that Google will not provide an update to owners of a Nexus 5, which means that support for this smartphone released in 2013 will come to an end. Newer Nexus devices will likely get the update.
Earlier this month, Google already released the latest beta version of Android 7 Nougat. New in this version of Android is, among other things, the possibility to show multiple apps on the screen via Multi-window Support. In addition, the notifications have been overhauled and the battery saving functions have been improved.
Publicly, Google has provided few details about the release, only talking about a release sometime in the third quarter. If Blass’ information is correct, then Google seems to have finished the development of the new Android version well in time.
