Ring has announced a new sensor for its Alarm security system, which detects the sound of breaking glass. This sensor then gives users an alarm message if, for example, a window is smashed.

According to Ring the sensor can detect the sound of breaking glass up to 7.5 meters. The manufacturer promises that it will not send empty messages if the sensor hears the sound of ringing keys or clattering plates. Users can choose whether they only receive a notification in the Ring app, or whether the alarm siren also sounds when a broken glass is detected.

According to the manufacturer, the sensor can only be used if users also have the separately available Ring Alarm. The sensor should be hung on a wall, ceiling or furniture near glass doors and windows. The Glass Break Sensor will be released on February 16 and will receive a suggested retail price of 45 euros.
