Remedy has provided an update on the games the company has in development. The Finnish studio says its Max Payne 1 and 2 remakes are ready for production. Control 2 is still in a concept phase. No release dates have been announced yet.

“The Max Payne 1 and 2 remakes are now ready for production,” CEO Tero Virtala reports in Remedy’s quarterly earnings review. According to the CEO, the studio now has clarity about the style and scope of the game. “We have an exceptionally well-organized team working on it.”

Virtala also confirms that Control 2 is still in a proof-of-concept stage. “The plans for this sequel are ambitious and we have made good progress both in the design and build of the game.” The company expects to continue in this concept phase in the coming quarters. The team will first test the ‘key elements’ of the sequel before the game moves on to the next phase of production and the development team is scaled up.

Remedy is also working on Project Condor, a co-op spin-off of Control. That title is now also ready for production. The concept phase of Project Vanguard, a multiplayer title that Remedy is working on together with Tencent, should be completed before the end of this year.

Remedy announced the arrival of the Max Payne 1 and 2 remakes last year. The company is working with Rockstar Games, which will be the publisher of the project and finance the development. Remedy had a similar partnership with Rockstar on the release of the original two Max Payne titles, with Rockstar serving as publisher and Remedy handling development. The remakes will eventually be released for the PS5, the Xbox Series X and S, and the PC. It is not known exactly when that will happen.

Control 2 was also announced last year. It is a sequel to the first Control game from 2019. No release date has been announced for Control 2 either. Remedy previously reported that this game will also be released on the PS5, Xbox Series consoles and PC. Both Control 2 and the Max Payne remakes are made with the Northlight engine that Remedy develops itself.

The Finnish studio released Alan Wake 2 earlier this month. Unlike the previous Max Payne titles, this was a survival horror title, according to the studio. Remedy says it is too early to draw conclusions about the title’s commercial success. The game has been received mostly positively, with a average score of 89 out of 100 on Metacritic.
